An article yesterday or today stated that the Excise Tax on domestic rods would be reduced to a flat $10 per rod....will that effect us or does anyone have any further information? Re: Article in Wall Street Journal

Check down a little further here. It was discussed yesterday with a lot of details.

10% or $10, the lesser of the two, not a flat $10. Most rods sold in the U.S. at the first point of sale don't sell for $10 total, so a flat $10 would double the price of most fishing rods sold here.
The complete revision will be in an upcoming RodMaker. ............... Re: Article in Wall Street Journal

Has this gone so far as to have a date that it goes into effect yet? Putter Williston, ND Re: Article in Wall Street Journal

No. But anyone who is currently filing and paying the tax will soon receive an update direct from the IRS with that information.
