Use the static guide placing method in the library above, then test cast, and you won't be sorry. It takes a little time but I have found it to be much better than any standard spacings anyone has come up with. I have built 5 fly rods using Dan's blanks and used it on all of them. After you have done it once you will find it will become as fast as measuring and you will be pleased with the results.

Bryan, I believe you are asking about the Signature V 10’ 7 weight. When assembled my rod is actually 9’9” long. I installed a 1” fighting butt, a Pac Bay CL8 reel seat and a 7” full wells grip. Measuring from the tip my spacing is as follows: 4.25, 9.25, 15.25, 22.25, 30.125, 38.5, 47.25, 56.375, 66.25, 76.5 and 87.75. With the Sig V series I like to place a guide on the female ferrule of the tip section so that the end of the male tip is under a wrap. The extra reinforcement is important. This spacing can be a starting point for your static testing. On my rod it is just fine. I used Recoil RSNX guides. The finished rod is remarkably light for such a long rod, and very quick recovering.
