electrial tape repairs

last week I snapped my favorite rod just above the reel seat .I went ahead and sleeved it , reattached it using 20 minute epoxy and remounted the reel. I'm not quite sure how strong this repair is , so I wrapped the break with electrian tape and epoxyed it. will this work ?? Will the repair hold up .?? What kind of problems can I expect???
Thanks in advance
Ken Blevins

I think that you would have been better off putting a "plug" on the inside and a sleeve over the top (I have done some with an internal "plug" only and had no problem. Wrap the area when done. I doubt that electrician tape will have any effect whatsoever (I could be wrong)

Also,
you will probably experience problems in the future from the finish not adhearing to the tape

The electrical tape isn't going to add anything to the strength of your repair - nor will the epoxy between the blank and the tape. Consult the article on repairing broken rods in the online library here on this site. The button is above to the right and says "Library."
