Hello
I am to build a 4 pcs #4 fly rod for myself. A year ago a build a 4 pcs 9' #6 on a St.Croix SC-IV 4F906.4 blank and I just love that rod. My starting point would therefore be St.Croix SC-IV once again. Now my problem is that St.Croix has 3 blanks 8' = 4F804.4 8'6" = 4F864.4 9' = 4F904.4 They are all described as fast, but my experience with other rods is that there can be a H... of a difference between rods of the sane series and # but in different lengths. I trust in StCroix making good blanks, but I have experienced (with other makes), that one specific rod in a series is just THE rod while others never should have seen the light of day. I have had mailcorrespondance with StCroix, but they can't help! Does anyone here have any experience with theese blanks - which one to prefer? - or another sugestion for a blank? Price not more over $175,- Re: #4 - 4 pcs fly rod

At least give Dan Craft some consideration. He has Sig III, FT and Sig V blanks. The Sig V 843 is 3 piece, but an awesome blank and super light. The Sig 3 and FT blanks are faster action with a bit more weight from what I understand. I love my Sig V, and want to try the FT line soon. Maybe at the show.... Re: #4 - 4 pcs fly rod

Kim:
Hello. The three blanks you listed are all excellent. My personal favorite is the 8'6" 4 piece 4 wt. I think it is one best casting 4 wts. on the market. Lanny Re: #4 - 4 pcs fly rod

Thanks for the replies
By intuition I would have chosen the 8'6 Kim Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
