spiral wrap

since getting started in rod building i have read alot of posts and articles on the spiral wrap but havent realy had one important question answered. unless i have over looked it.
my long poles are 13 to 15 ft surf. use them for catfish and striper, guides on top.
set up with garcia 7000 or 7700 with this set up can reach out to way over 100 tards with jigs with shad a hair less to much wind drag.
my question is how is the spiral wrap gonna effect casting distance?
sometimes have to reach way out there to where the stripers are surfacing.
dont have to worry about knots passing thru the guides
( current will determine what size weight will be used )

If you set one up correctly, casting distance won't be affected by any noticeable degree. Don't be confused by the term - only the guides are spiraled around the line, the line doesn't spiral, it goes just as straight as it ever did. At least with most systems.

I use several spiral rapped rods nothing as long as you, but my experience is that with what I have I get more casting distance. The longest I use is an 8 ft. rod. Had gentelman in my boat the other day try it and has spent the last week begging me to build him one. Because of the casting distance he got.
