In particular how I might determine how old they are, who mfr'd them, how they are constructed and if they are worth anything. I'm intrigued by the cone shaped guides on one of the rods and the odd shaped tip..or is that something unique to fly rods. Re: Old Bamboo Rods

Pick up a copy of Michael Sinclair's book "Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook". This details the history of bamboo rods, has information on restoration, identification charts and sketches and lists rods by manufacturer in tables that will help you identify the manufacturer and age of the rod. These are older rods (pre-1930 I'm pretty sure), not highly valuable in a monetary sense, but getting more and more rare due to their age. Several manufactureres used those type guides so it would hard to discern the maker by the photos alone. Somebody would most likely need to see the rods in person. Sometimes the ferrules can steer you to the maker and whether or not you've got a real heirloom or just an old rod.
