I am looking for a 3wt, 3pc graphite fly rod blank in 7' or 7' 6" in length. Can anyone recommend a blank under $100?
Thanks in advance for your advice. Bailey Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Bailey,
I think you need to be more specific...there are hundreds of blanks that fit into the under $100.00 catagory. You could build a very good 7' fly rod (all components incuded for $100.00) What type of action do you like...what are you going to use it for? Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

It will be used for small creek fishing (trout), medium action. I would prefer the blank be a 3pc - ideally 4pc since it will be used for backpacking purposes.
Thanks, Bailey Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Dan Craft....Dan Craft.....Dan Craft!!!!
The Sig V.s are 3 pc....and beautiful, sweet, delicious! Everybody seems to love the FT's...I'm just building one. They are 4 pc. The Sig. III's seem to have a cult following in the lighter weights. Pick one and prepare to fall in love! The 3 pc Sig V 8'4 4 wt is off the charts in performance and feel. I'm drooling at my 9 ft 7 wt FT as it goes together. Dan Craft...Dan Craft...Dan Craft! And Dan is the greatest to work with! Keith Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Rainshadow also has a very nice 4pc, 7'6" 4wt rod in their IF series (IF 764, 4pc). It is a great rod I made for my son who backpacks and fishes small streams. I liked it so much I made one for myself!

You might also consider the Tiger Eye 4 piece blanks. Less than $50, and they are morderate fast action. You could make a nice rod for the $100 budget you have set. Schneider's carries them, among others. Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Lamiglass Appalachian Traveler in either 7' or 7'6" would be a nice choice. Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Bailey , you have some good suggestions above . I've built at least one of all mentioned with exeception to the Lami , just decide what you want to spend . Forecast has some nice pack blanks too for very little money . Dans Blanks are the best for the money in my book. Have fun , JHD Got Fish ? Re: Fly Rod Blank Recommendation

Hook and Hackle has nice im6 blanks in green or charcoal. Very nice soft, mod action rods. Made in USA. Dan Craft has 7' and 7'6" brown tiger eye 4 piece blanks that are really sweet for the money. I built the 7'6" 3/4 wt for my girl friend and it's really nice. If I knew it was going to cast so well I would have put better components on it. It's worthy of quality components.

Bailey,
I'll agree with the Dan Craft recomendation. The last three times I've been fishing I've used the 8'0" 4 piece 3 weight Sig III that I built for my brother about a month ago. I've been fishing it with a Rio Classic WF3F and it loads very well at short range. It's suprisingly good at handling weighted nymphs but it's a dream to cast dries with. The rod is so accurate that it feels telepathic... you just think about where you want your fly, make the cast and the fly lands right on target. I think I'm either going to have to steal this rod from my brother or build one for myself! Mark Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
