I have an old Sage Light Line 4 wt. blank I'm getting ready to build. It's a 9 ft., two-piece blank. I've noticed that the ferrule section of this blank is unusually long. The female ferrule covers about seven inches of the male part. The ferrule sections of other rods that I've bought or built are all about a few inches.
Is this long ferrule by design? Would it cause a problem if I built it as is, or should I trim the butt of the top section and make the ferrule about a few inches like other rods? If I build it as is, should I wrap the entire length of the female ferrule? Re: ferrule length

Are they the correct sections? 7" is way to much. Usually about 2-2 1/2" Re: ferrule length

That doesn't sound right at all. It sounds to me like the tip section you have there is from another rod entirely.
