last week I applied the finish to a rod, not my first, but this was a different two part product then i have used before. Thought I did everything correct... the rod is still tacky. any help, suggestions, souces, methods? Thanks

Hi Jim,

It sounds like you were off on your mixing. Regardless of what brand finish that you use, exact mix is critical. Most mix at least 3cc's of each component so that there is a SLIGHT margin for error. Stir slowly for 3 or 4 minutes, scraping the sides of your container so that is well mixed and pour onto a piece of aluminum foil. This will extend pot life a little and allow bubbles to escape

Fortunately, it is easy to correct. Mix a fresh batch and apply over the tacky one and you should be fine! Measure carefully!

That's good advice. I would ask you about the temperature in the area where you're finishing the rod, however. On the outside chance that you've got it in a very cool area, it may only require a bit more time to harden fully. Generally, it would have to be pretty darn cold to keep most 2 part epoxies from fully setting in a week's time, but I'll just throw it out there, just in case.
