Back in April I had five rods, three custom built, smashed by Southwest Airlines. The service reps at central baggage claims worked with me and ended up paying for the two store bought rods and for the materials for the custom rods. Although it was not the best of experiences I am glad to say Southwest made it less painful by reimbursing me. The following is the short version of the steps I took to get reimbursed and if it should happen to you might help.
1) inspect package at airport file claim immediately 2)keep reciepts of everything 3)make copies of all info sent 4) give detailed specifics of item numbers, where purchased, description of rods, what areas are damaged/broken, and photos. Airline reps do not have much experience dealing with rods and components 5)have another liscensed rodbuilder confirm items/components 6) stay cool and treat rep with respect even though your upset 7)remember things are a process and it takes time (3 months) 8)) Remember that you have fun building rods and realize you will be able to build the destroyed rods better the second time around 9)when you get your check spend it with the sponsors who helped you out in the meantime (Custom Tackle and Rainshadow) Dan Grulke Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
