andrew, i have used a face cloth dipped in hot water then layed on the area for a few minutes. then i scraped the area with the flat side of a plastic knife, worked just fine with no damage to the blank and all the residue came right off. If the replacement parts are going back in the same spots don't try to remove it all. Tape off the area so that only the old epoxy lines are left on the blank. Spin the rod use a razor bladed held at 90* to the spinning blank to abrade the material away in seconds.
