i heard from my sister in Charlotte that the convention center where the shows have been held the last 2 years was imploded to make room for a new highrise-any ideas about where and when the 2006 show may be held/ I've worked the flyshow every year and would hate to miss it, although my bank account would probably be the better for it!

Your sister is mistaken. I was there last week and the convention center is still there where it's always been. The center has various shows and events taking place this very weekend if you'd care to look at their direct website. That would be kind of hard to do if it had actually been imploded.

The 2006 National Rod Builders' Show will take place as planed. The link for the show is at the top left of the sponsor column.

I cannot advise on the Fly Fishing Show but I believe they are going to have it again at the Convention Center as well.

It was the old Convention Center that was imploded. The one where the Rodbuilding and FF Shows are held is the new center which was built in 1995 according to this story. I think the confusion was because the names had been the same.

They were in the process of building a new Arena for the Charlotte Bobcats a few blocks away from where the Show was held.

Right, what they tore down was the old home of the Charlotte ball team. The Hornets? Hope this doesn't cause confusion to the people who are planning to attend this coming year.

Glad to hear that. I was confused about what was going on there as well. Don't let anyone tell you that any other rod building event or show compares in any way to the Charlotte event. There is nothing on the planet that even comes close. Glad it will be at the convention center again. I thought it was a really impressive place and the hotel across the street was really first class all the way.
