Flex Coat High Build portions

I'm noticing that every time my Flex Coat High Build bottles are about empty there is always more of the Resin Part A (yellow bottle) than there is of the Hardener Part B (black bottle).

I use syringes to measure portions and try to be very, very meticulous about my measurements and mixing. Really have never had a problem with this finish other than the occasional tag end or dust speck, so, I am pretty certain I am using equal portions of each part.

Guess it really doesn’t matter since my finishes are ok.. just pondering on my keyboard I reckon.

Me too...great to know I'm not alone in this pheonomenon. It would be great if someone chimed in with the same problem, but ended up with too much of the black bottle. :)

I've noticed the same exact thing. The only thing I can think of is that the black bottle is more viscous so more of the fluid is stuck on the walls of the bottle and haven't settled to the bottom.

I've never used a syringe. Didn't have them when I started building. I use a scale; reloaders. I started playing with the 50/50 by weight, knowing full well that it should be mixed 50/50 by volume.

I learned how to "adjust" my weights of each to get the bottles to empty at the same rate. Funny to hear your comments; when I was weighing the first bottles of finish at 50/'50 by weight, the part A had more left in the bottle, so I would add part B first, balance it with part A (by weight), then add more A until I got the bottles to come down at the same rate. Took some playing around, but I finally got a handle on it. Sometimes, I still have a bit more of the A left when B is MT, but as Neil says, it always has hardened up for me, too.

My FC Resin(black bottle) has slightly more than my Hardener(yellow).
