Greetings,
If one wants to use a spin rod to build a fly rod, what is the general conversion? I know that manufacturer ratings varies for the same power but what is your general sense? For example, on a 7 feet spin blank with lure rating of 1/8 to 3/8 oz, what would the probably weight rating for a fly rod be? Would be right at the middle at 2/8 oz which is a 4 wt? Or would one genrally take the higher lure rating at 3/8 which is a 6 wt? Thanks in advance for any help. Mo Re: Conversion: Spin into Fly rod - wt rating?

Mo, I would use the middle of the range as a guideline. By the way, I responded to your e-mail from the other day - hope you got my response. If not, it might be a spam filter problem. Re: Conversion: Spin into Fly rod - wt rating?

MIddle range is probably best, or better yet, run a CCS rating on it and you'll know exactly how much power you have there.

Thanks Tom and Steve for the response.
Steve, I checked and indeed, you DID respond with an extended reply. I'm very sorry but not sure how that slipped my attention to respond to you. I'll be dropping a note back via e-mail in a few moments. Again, THANKS! Mo Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
