Ceramic guides and bamboo, or hexagraph

I just started wrapping guides onto my new Hexagraph 7ft. 2/3wt., using Fuji Alconite CLAG guides. I realized I'd fouled up. Not badly, but I'd not ground the bottoms of the guide feet flat. I did my normal guide foot prep, which left the undersides of the guides curved for a 'Round' blank. It just goes to show that I'm not as smart as I want to think I am. I'm writing this to inform OR remind you other 'smart' builders out there that even someone who has built 100+ rods needs to think about what he, or she, is doing all the time. That, "I've done this a hundred times" is no excuse for doing anything by rote. I see a lot of mistakes written about on this board, and while many are made by beginners, a lot of them aren't. This is only the latest of mine. No damage, no harm, THIS time! LOL. But, All of us, Think about what we're doing all the time! and whatever we're working on will come out better. Sorry about the rant-n-rave, but this is my way of "cussing myself out" and moving on. So y'all, think about what you're doing and have fewer Foulups, like the desk sergeant on Hill Street Blues used to say, still does on reruns I guess "Lets be careful out there" (or in there). Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/28/2005 06:53PM by Ralph Jones. Re: Ceramic guides and bamboo, or hexagraph

Amen Ralph!
I have built many rods and as perfect as would like to think I am this craft will humble me in a minute! Especially after I learn some thing new from this board and find "old habits are hard to break"! Tight Lines!! Raymond Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
