First let me say that I have been reading post and viewing the site for about a month and it is great.
I am new to rod building and have caught the bug. I am looking for advice on shipping 2pc rods 6'6" to 10". My rods come with a velour sock but no rod tube I think everyone has enough rod tubes. What should i pack them in (box, cardboard tube etc.) Is it OK to pack 2 in the same package. What else should I put in with them to keep them safe. jason Tipton Re: shipping 2 pc

PVC pipe is really durable but it is also pretty heavy. I've received rod blanks from American Tackle in Fedex triangular boxes and they were OK, although I'm not sure I would trust them for a finished rod. You might check with someplace that prints engineering drawings about heavy cardboard tubes. Re: shipping 2 pc

I ship rods in PVC, and have shipped two rods in the same pipe. For 2 pc rods, I break them down, then lay down bubblewrap so there is about 4" beyond each end of the longest section. Roll a butt end until covered, then the next butt end, reversed, roll again, do a tip section, repeat again, then fold over the ends like butcher paper and roll all of them up until the bundle just snugly fits into the tube. Tape over the ends good to make sure the ends will stay protected and that's it. Use a length of tube about 8" longer than the longest rod section to give enough room for the bubble wrap. If there is any room at the top after they are stuffed in, I pack it with more bubble wrap. Cap the end, seal well and that's it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
