Good evening all,
I have a quick question for you. I have a couple of the All Star 725's and I am looking at cutting 6 inches off of the bottom to make a 5'6" caster for tight work around doc's brush and other general shore stuff with light spinnerbaits. I am wondering how much this is really going to change the action of the rod. The reason that I would like to cut this blank is becasue it is what I have laying around right now and I would like to ship it home to MN for a fathers day present. Thanks guys Tom Re: shortening casting rod

Tom,
If I remember right the 725 blanks were ex-fast actioned blanks, so I think you'll be fine. It will slow the blank some and take some power away probably. You can get a general feel by just tape testing with a 6 inch longer handle. The balance will be off some, but it should give you a general idea. Re: shortening casting rod

thanks for the advise guys. Let the choppin begin. I just have to figure out which Stihl that I am going to use to lop off the end. LOL Seriously, I will just tape off the end and use my dremel with the cutoff wheel and will make sure that I wear all the protective stuff.
Once again the pros here come to the rescue of the unknowing!!!! Thanks a ton Tom Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
