Doing a 7' 2 pc U/L and did the ferrule wrap without thinking (DUH) the diameter of the male piece ia barely 1/4" and I did the ferrule wrap a little over 1/2" Didn't dawn on me until I was putting on the finish. Am I in trouble or will this length wrap be OK???

Just a little extra protection.
Do you like it? Usually twice the diamiter of the female opening as close to the edge as you can get it " without the thread falling off "

I don't see any problem at all Mike. I generally follow the "double" rule myself.

I wrap 0.5cm past the point the male reaches when put togeather. I have actually had a rod snap (store bought) at the point where the male ends in the tip section, and there was only a short ferrule wrap. I dont know if a long wrap helps stengthwise at all but I sleep better at night knowing that I have done everything possible to protect the rod. Of commersial rods atleast ABU does most of their ferrules this way, thanks

A longer wrap isn't really going to hurt anything, but it really doesn't help anything either. Thread wound axially around the blank can really only prevent a split out and that usually only can occur (begin) at the very edge of the ferrule. But I seriously doubt that having it a little bit longer is going to have any detrimental effect on your rod. Maybe on your mind, but in that case I think you'll forget all about it once you start fishing with it.
