Just finished a butt wrap with white pac bay size a thread with a decorative wrap. Applied several coats of color preserver. (flex coat). After appling finish the color of the rod blank blead through the white. Any ideas. Thinking of next time painting white under the underwrap but not sure what type of paint to use. I have heard if it is the wrong type that the finish might not cure correctly. Re: Blank color bleeding through

I always use NCP thread for the color white. It is hard to tell the flat opaque look on white NCP. Ed Re: Blank color bleeding through

I would paint the wrap area with white paint first. White is VERY difficult and needs to be packed u;ltra tight and then it's still iffy. As much as I don't care for NCP, that might be a good choice.

Why not Flex Coat the rod first then wrap over the Flex Coat? Re: Blank color bleeding through

The Flex Coat won't change the blank color underneath, hence it won't affect the color showing through. It would be the same as wrapping it on a high gloss blank.
