I just purchased some Pac Bay graphite reel seats, they came in four pieces, an insert the two hoods and a decorative piece for between the hoods. What is the correct way to assemble these, I'm assuming that you epoxy the insert tube to the blank and then assemble the other pieces when the epoxy dries, is this correct? Also can anyone tell me what a Mag Bass blank is? Re: Pac Bay reel seats

I glue every thing to the tube first, then glue a flex coat arbor into that, then fit to the blank have not tried it that way This way I glue the completed seat to the rod and align Re: Pac Bay reel seats

Ed,
A Mag Bass blank is a fast to very fast actioned blank, which means that the tip only bends in 20 - 25 per cent of it's length before it firms up substantially into a heavy butt section. Re: Pac Bay reel seats

Ed, I really like these seats and use them a lot. There is no "correct" way to mount them. Do it however you want. You can assemble the seat like Bill does, or assemble it on the blank (which is the way I normally do it). I like to shape arbors for these so that about a third to a half of each arbor fits into the tube and the remainder supports the hoods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
