How do the four-piece Tiger Eye travel blanks compare to their Forecast counterparts? Re: Tiger Eye versus Forecast travel blanks?

i can't give you a comparison because i have not built any forecasts but the tiger eyes are a great buy and make a very nice rod especially in the smaller sizes. i like the 7' 3/4 wt. very nice small stream rod and the color of the blanks is very nice. Re: Tiger Eye versus Forecast travel blanks?

I have built both and have had good results with both. I sell the Tiger Eyes now so that is what I most familiar with these days. The four piece rods in all weights produce nice rods. Like the previous poster, I am partial to the lighter weights for small streams, but have built the heavy weights for steelhead and salmon.

Both make nice rods, the Tiger eye is IM6 graphite which is a little higher modulus than the Forecast. Doesn't make them better, but there is a difference. Re: Tiger Eye versus Forecast travel blanks?

Both are nice, but like all rod blank models, some particular models stand out a bit from the others I think.
I prefer a lighter, higher performance blank in a 5wt or higher, but I really like these 2 blanks in the light line, shorter models where you don't really notice the extra weight much, and where a medium action, slower recovery blank would be considered "just right". I have built on the 2pc 7ft9 3wt,3pc 8ft 4wt,and 4pc 7ft6 4wt Forecast models,as well as the 4pc 7ft6 3/4 and 4pc 8ft 3/4 tiger eyes, and 2 of these models really stand out to me.The 4pc 7ft6 4wt Forecast and the 4pc 8ft 3/4 tiger eye. The 2pc 7ft9 3wt and 3pc 8ft 4wt Forecasts are also both really nice(I think I like the 3pc 8ft 4wt a bit more out of these 2),but the 4pc 7ft6 4wt feels lighter and much quicker and crisper in the tip. It's a wonderful blank that feels more like a 3wt at 30ft or so,and it's CCS numbers would probably support that. The 4pc 7ft6 3/4 tiger eye is much stiffer and feels like a solid 4wt by comparison.I definitely prefer the light feel of the Forecast in the 4pc 7ft6 4wt model to the 4pc 7ft6 3/4 tiger eye myself. As much as I love the 4pc 7ft6 4wt Forecast, the 4pc 8ft 3/4 tiger eye is the one I like best out of all of them. This blank is SMOOTH and has a great feel to it with a 4wt line.Believe it or not,it may be the closest feel to my 2pc 8ft 4wt Scott G that I have found so far.The tiger eye is a heavier blank than the G(the 8ft 4wt Scott G is FEATHER light and considerably lighter than any of the blanks above),especially since it's a 4pc,but it's feel and flex profile are VERY similar. It's also GORGEOUS to look at(unlike the Scott G,LOL). Another low priced, but fantastic light line blank I like is the 2pc 7ft9 3wt Rainshadow RX7.With a 4wt line it's SWEET. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
