High gloss

I always have a tube of Wenol metal polish (or its equivalent) around the house and use it for polishing virtually everything, including plastic. I decided to try using it on a blank that had become scuffed in shipping. The results were phenomenal: after polishing, the blank shone like glass! I now use it on all gloss blanks before I begin working on them. I also tried using some of the polish on a less-than-perfect wood reel seat insert, with the same results. It shouldn't be too hard to find, as it's quite well known.

In case you're concerned about its "user friendliness", I got this from a web page about polishing an electron microscope(!): "Wenol and POL Metal Polish are petroleum-based paste cleaners and contain no silicone." The magic words! Try some and watch your components shine, shine, shine!

Petroleum is oil based, have you done a test coat first to see what and if there may be a reaction?

I always hit gloss blanks with Meguiars Scratch X for the same reason. Gets rid of all the small rubs and scratches. Even on blanks that look flawless, it really dresses them up nice.

OK looks like the search for perfection will take me to other venues. What kind of store or craft center can I find some of this wonder polish?

I've had some around the house for years; use it on chrome rims and also for stubborn rifle brass that tumbling won't clean up. I think I got it in the automotive/wax area of a hardware store.

I use Wenol in the red tube. I have used this product on so many things that I have complete confidence in it, for blanks and everything else. I always have a spare piece of blank lying around -- inlcuding the ones I just got from Neal to make reamers -- to test things on. The finish is not affected in any way but improving the gloss 1000%.
