hello tom i seen in the pics you used an acrylic insert ive built a couple of rods using these inserts whats your opinion on them do you personally like them ????????? thanks crabtree's customs

I like them because they're different - you don't often see them on rods. There are many types, of course, and not all are the same material. Like many, I've often wished I could get the same variety of materials and patterns as those offered for pen and knife makers but most aren't available in sizes that are sufficient for use on fishing rods. That will change shortly with an upcoming RodMaker article on how to make your own.

i just ordered another this weekend its called the cappucino for a 5wt the insert is really nice.......

Any hints for turning this stuff-lathe speed, sanding and polishing, etc?
