When using aluminum reel seats, such as Pacific Bay Channel Lock, in salt water, do you lubricate the threads to keep them from seizing?
If so what with? Joe Milligan Seattle Re: Aluminum reel seats

Joe,
I fish the beaches of Southern CA at least once every week. IMHO, you don't need anything other than a though rinsing in fresh water when you are done with fishing. The sooner the better, but I have yet to have a problem with corrosion. I have a channel lock on my 6wt SW rod btw. Barret Re: Aluminum reel seats

For all metal items used in a saltwater environment I rinse with cool water as soon as possible and towel dry. Then I follow with a spray of WD40 which I also wipe down leaving just a light coating. I wrap reels in soft cloths or their foam bags with their drags totally loosened. It keeps things working great and looking great. Some folks like to use a special salt removing solution but I have found no need for that. The quick clean water rinse is your first line of defense. I'll even rinse with bottled water before leaving the parking lot if its a long drive home. The rod also requires a good rinsing and perhaps a coat of furniture polish. Take care of your equipment and it will serve you well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
