Sage 490 RPL help
Posted by: Ben McLean (---.hsd1.mi.comcast.net)

Hi,
I lost what I now believe is the "notched hood" from my Sage 490 RPL when the butt cap fell off. I checked struble's website, but none of the reel seats seem to match exactly. I am not sure that it really matters, because all I need is the notched hood. It was black.

Anyone know about what Sage usually uses for these rods, or could anyone direct me to a good place to get just a notched hood?

I have an email pending with Sage.

Thanks for any advice,
Ben

Hi Ben,

You might try REC. [www.rec.com]

Have a look around their website and see if they have something similar. Although, I'm sure if you bought the rod as a finished rod that Sage will waranty the fix.

Hopefully Sage will be able to help out. They provided a butt cap for a friend's fly rod when it dropped off.

Good Luck,

I had a couple of Sage RPL's. I think mine had the Struble G reel seat, a machined alumium black uplocking seat of a small diameter.

I think you need to talk to Sage. If you send them the rod and 20 bucks (I think,) they will fix it and send it back to you. I do not know if they will just send you a part. Anyway you need to call Sage and find out how to proceede.

Thanks for the help guys - I really appreciate it. I will contact Sage, and then potentially struble.

Take care,
Ben
