I have recently purchased several unmarked casting rod blanks that are of different strenghts and lengths. Is there any way to determine the line and lure weight of these blanks? The only answer I can come up with is to compare the with blanks I have with known parameters while under stress. Is there any technique for determining the weights of a blank?? Re: Blank Question?

You can take them out in the yard and violently shake them up and down and sideways and guess like most people. There is a better option available if you want to really know the performance characteristics of each blank. Take a look on this board using the search feature on the Common Cents System By Dr. Bill Hanneman. This system will allow you to take measurements that will properly rate each blank. Order back issues of Rodmaker Magazine that have featured this process.

If you don't also have them, go to the CC Data site and the is a link to order just the CC Data articles from RodMaker magazine. I believe Tom sends them for a nominal fee of $4, shipping may also be a small amount. Well worth the money. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
