Okay this may be a stupid question, but when I look at pictures of hypalon and eva, they look the same. What's the difference? Is one easier to work with? Is one more durable? Re: difference between eva and hypalon

Order a small grip of each and take a look - it will tell more than anything you can read or imagine, or learn from pictures. Its cheap learning.
Eva chips, and dents easily. It tends to hold a depression from a finger nail for a few moments. Sustained pressure (ie. rod holders) can permanently deform it. Hypalon is a tough rubbery material, heavier in weight than eva. It will not hold a dent from a fingernail, and much harder to tear than eva. This is my choice for trolling rods, standup rods, and other heavy stuff. Lou Re: difference between eva and hypalon

Another difference from hypolon is that it feels softer when sqeezed than eva grips
