No ferrule wrap - CTS blank

I emailed CTS to ask their recommendations regarding ferrule wraps. The answer is that no ferrule wrap is needed - "We have an internal ferrule wrap at the joins which creates a very strong part of the blank" - they explained.
Now the blanks have rather thick walls at the ferrules maybe due to this and I'm going to add at least a small ferrule wras for cosmetic reasons. My question is - of course they wouldnt say this if it isnt true but have anyone not wrapped the ferrules on CTS blanks and had problems with it ? Thanks Peter Re: No ferrule wrap - CTS blank

Hej peter. det er ikke nødvendig at lave nogen viklinger på ferrulen jeg har undladt det på flere af cts klinger uden problemer.

Nearly all blanks these days feature ferrules which are internally reinforced. There are various methods to do this, some use wound glass fiber while other use a sheet of graphite or glass laid in at 90 degrees to the linear power fibers. They all amount to pretty much the same thing that you're doing when you use thread for an external reinforcement. Of course, the maker's internal reinforcement is far more effective.
They wouldn't tell you to do anything that might hurt the blank nor leave off something that it needs. I'm sure you'll be just fine without any thread reinforcement wrap on there. Of course, if you do choose to add one, simply through habit or aesthectics, it won't hurt a thing. ................... Re: No ferrule wrap - CTS blank

Yeah Jay me too. I can guess what the first 2 and last 2 words of his post say but that's about it. You better have a danish with that coffee- maybe that will lead to enlightenment. Re: No ferrule wrap - CTS blank

You guys have a great sence of humor :-)
Brian just said the same as Tom without the explanation - dont wrap it isnt necessary ! Tom - thank you for a good explanation - as always :-) I still think it gonna look a little weird - I'll see if I can get a guide on each ferrule I think. Peter Re: No ferrule wrap - CTS blank

Actually, doesn't Brian say that he has left a CTS ferrule unwrapped without any problem?
