Building a 2wt fly rod for a friend and want antother option than a double foot stripper- seems overkill. Could I get away with using a single foot spinning guide in size 8? Re: Instead of a double foot stripper

Absolutely. I use single foot strippers on all my fly rods up to 5wt. Especially on a 2wt, a single would be very appropriate.

Yes, definitely. The Forecast fly guides in a #10 make good stripping guides for lightweight rods. The Forecast #8's have a fairly thick ring and smaller opening so I wouldn't recommend them as much as a #10.
I have used a #8 Alconite bridge guide with success as well. The thin ring on Alconites makes the #8 doable. Re: Instead of a double foot stripper

Either a #10 or a #12. The #12 gives you more height and a straighter angle if you are using a 3" spool. I bought some extra SF Titans for just this purpose. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
