Hello there;
I'm new to this rodbuilding thing, and have enjoyed every minute spent building two rods for myself. I am currently working on the third, and was wondering how I might be able to make my own decals or labels? Also, how much time do most of you spend building a single rod? I'm not yet ready to jump into the fire , but there is enough interest from friends and others to build rods for them that I'm curious about pricing. Any advice on this subject? For professional labels, you can't beat Decal Connection from the list of sponsors on the left. They are true professionals and for a couple bucks per label, they can't be beat. I just finished my 3rd rod myself and each one has taken me about a week and half, putting in a couple hours after work each nite. Re: Making Decals

...and the more of them you do, the fussier you get, the more you learn and want to do to the next one, and the longer they take!! ;)
Click on Decal Connection's sponsor list on the left, send Jimi an email and he'll do a professional job for you on those decals. Ink jet printers can't do the job, even with his waterslide decal paper. Trust me! Putter Williston, ND Re: Making Decals

The only economical way to make your own labels is by using an Alps MD/Citizen Printeva printer. They use a silver foil, gold foil, or white ribbons. The problem is those printers are not made anymore (in the US - there are some Cititzens available in Europe), though you can almost always find them on @#$%&. Ribbons are still being made and are easy to find.
But you'll have to be doing a lot to justify the expense of buying the supplies. If you are just doing a few decals get them form Decal Connection. Don't use an Inkjet printer and the ink jet decals. They are not opaque enough, and you won't be able to see the lettering. Christian Re: Making Decals

I found a few of the Alps MD printers on @#$%& and they arent too expensive. Do you know where to get the silver/gold foil? Also what kind of paper do you use in these to make other color decals? Re: Making Decals

I can email you tonight on where to get the silver and gold metallic cartridges for the Alps. I have it on my home computer. Putter Williston, ND Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
