Sorry for being such a newbie, but....In a prior thread I was told thread can be used to tie down a plate type reel seat. The thing is the seat is currently just taped directly on top of cork tape that is wrapped around the handle. If I take the tape off and secure it instead with thread/wraps around the reel seat and the cork tape, will the this be a problem - or do i need to take/cut off the cork tape in this area to prevent the thread cutting into the cork tape, or to prevent problems with the thread finish on the thread on the cork tape? You can wrap right over the cork tape. I use E thread for this with those type of seats. Even two layers for both abrasion protection and because it gives a neater looking job. I use regular rod building epoxy finish to coat the threads. Looks and works fine. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
