Thear friends,
I've a Shimano Beastmaster 3050R stand up rod. I don't know if this model is also sold in other countries but I think the look I'm looking for is common to other Shimano Beastmaster rods (spinning...). You can take a look of this kind of finish here: [www.fishright.com] . I tried to posta picture in the photo section but an error appears when trying to build thumbnail. Both, the whole blank and the wraps have this kind of "silky" effect. Does anyone know how to do it? Re: The "Beastmaster" effect

Hi I cant say for the blank but the guides dont have any thread. They are wrapped in during the blank´s building process using the blanks own graphite fibers I think. They are sort of integrated in the blank as far as I know. Thanks

Choose a category for your photo and you won't get any error messages.

Dear Kim,
I'm not sure this will be the process, as some very cheap commercial rods sold in Spain have this same look. Daniel Re: The "Beastmaster" effect

I tried to post it choosing "members gallery". I could finally post it in "miscelanious". You'll find it at [www.rodbuilding.org] Re: The "Beastmaster" effect

Hi Daniel. I called the local shimano dealer here in Finland and they confirmed that all the Beast master rods are built the way I described. Thanks

Hi again, Kim
Thank you very much. Then it means we cannot get an effect like this ... :( Best regards, Daniel Re: The "Beastmaster" effect

Merrick Tackle carries pure graphite cloth tape in a 3" width. Not sure if it can be used for this effect or not. See page 31 of their catalog - it's also online.

Chances are they are wrapped with a separate cloth and not actually built 'into' the blank. I don't see how you could do that without destroying the integrity of the blank alltogether. Also, how would you fix a broken guide? Try the cloth Lou suggested. This would be a great experiment.
