TiteBond II can be used for exterior use, but it is not totaly waterproof, meaning you wouldn't want to use it on anything that you plan on submerging. TiteBond III is totally waterproof and could be used on a wooden boat, if you wanted. But I think for the purpose of making a cork grip, the II will still be just fine.

Titebond II will soften when submersed for long periods. But I have built lots of flyrods with the TB II and they are still going strong. Titebond III is bar-none the best glue I have found for gluing Exotic Burl rings together...I am sure it's just as outstanding for regular cork.

I have looked for TBIII in various stores for over a year, and cannot find it, most of those stores stock TBII. Meanwhile, I'm continuing to use the TBII without problems. Bill, the label doesn't say "waterproof", it says "water-resistant", at least on the bottles I have. Re: Titebond II / III ?

I’ve used TBII for years for grips with and without wood. I have yet to have one returned with a glue failure. I tried to use TBIII for some steam bent nets this past winter and had some problems. I’m sure that I had temps below the recommended working temp as my shop isn’t heated when I’m not there, I’m cheap. TBII is very forgiving at the lower end of it’s working temp range. I would have done some testing to see if it was the temp range but it takes a lot of effort to get down to bent strips ready to glue-up. I just used some System 3 epoxy instead. I’m out of luck for testing as it has warmed up here, not to mention that my wife frowns on glue testing in the refrigerator. I’ll have to wait until next winter to test the temp range of TBIII on some scrap wood and cork. Re: Titebond II / III ?

Your right. Weather Proof not water proof. Excellent water-resistance Re: Titebond II / III ?
