Butt Wrap Books/Articles/Etc

Hello

I'm almost done with my first butt wrap and things turned out pretty nice but not quite as I expected. It seems I can't really visualize the end result and I credit that to my lack of experience and more importantly general knowledge of butt wrapping techniques. I'd like to get a hold of some books/articles/videos that go into depth on butt wraps. As far as written material goes I think it's essential that they contain lots of pictures/drawings/etc for step by step illustration. For example I have The New Advanced Custom Rod Building book by Dale Clemens but I think it falls short when it comes to illustrating the techniques.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Sam

There is some software out that clearly shows the results of your efforts before you wrap even one thread - see visual wrap.

Get Clemen's Custom Rod Thread Art - its another good source that helps give more insight.

Not even Custom Rod Thread Art will depict the techniques, as they are few and simple. If you can wrap a diamond and a chevron, you can make any wrap. All are based on those two procedures. Most likely, you just need to do a few more. Or, spend some time looking at wraps that are already done and mentally deconstructing them and how they were made.

Billy Vivona has created an excellent photo tutorial on tying off butt wraps. Until I studied that, the tie off was giving me more trouble than doing the wrap itself. Take a look at: [www.visualwrap.com]

Does Visualwrap walk you through the wrap thread by thread?

Sam,

There are several photo tutorials on the visualwrap website, as well as some screenshot movie files showing some patterns forming.

There is another site that has some info as well: [www.leapinbass.com]
