Hey guys,
I have to restore a rod for someone which in general is in pretty good shape. This is a store bought seeker rod that a customer came to me with. The guides have rusted and will be renewed. Thats the easy part. however the guy wants different color thread on the guides, etc. Now with that changed the butt wrap color will be totally off and thats easy to cover up with thread and finish. but a bit futher up the blank it has a sticker about 3 inches long under finish. Would it be safe to assume, i can heat that area up takle off the factory finish, scrape up the sticker, slightly sand with liek a 400 grit sand paper and put finish over it. Or does anyone have a better or easy way to accomplish this? anyone ever had to do tedious renewels liek this? thanks for your help/. art Re: Removing a factory decal/sticker -rod restoration

The only thing you'd have to be careful off is that you don't sand into or past the blank finish. Otherwise you'll have to repaint that area.
