Michael, I use a lot of R/A poly thread and haven't found a downside to it. Use it without fear. Re: polyester thread

Madeira Polyneon, which folks have been using for some time now,is a 'polyester'. I now see that Sulky and Coats & Clark offer a large line of polyester threads in a bunch of colors..... Re: polyester thread

I used a spool of polyester sewing thread when I was desperate one time and without the right color of Gudebrod nylon thread. The wraps had the texture of a wooly bear caterpiller the next day. I wonder what that was all about? It's the only time I've ever had that happen. Re: polyester thread

Steve,
If it was Mettler polyester thread, it might have been Metller Metrosene thread, which is fuzzy!! The sales lady at the fabric store told me to try Mettler Polysheen, when I complained about Metrosene being fuzzy. The Mettler Polysheen variety seems to have properties very much like Madeira Polyneon 40. No fuzzies with the Polysheen thread. Seems to behave itself. Stan Re: polyester thread

I agree with Stan, Mettler Polysheen is good, but not Metrosene. You may not notice the fuzz on the fuzzy threads the way they are packaged in the store, with a protective plastic wrap. You need to open one, pull off some thread, and examine it carefully. I get the Polysheen online, ordering from a free color catalog. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
