I've never seen the Recoil guides in person. Cabelas has a video on the top of their fishing page, some XML rods that feature them. Seem pretty cool. My only question is how smooth are they compared to ceramics? With the new Am Tackles do they still have a place in Spinning/Casting rods?

Phil:
Not sure about how "smooth" they are vs. ceramics. My guess would be the ceramics are smoother. The real advantage is that it is not plated yet corrosion free. The bonus for me is that I am hard on my equipment given some of the terrain I fish, etc. These guides can really take a beating. Re: Interesting video

Phil , I've used them on a number of rods for other people , and finaly built a couple for myself this winter . I just used them for the first time in the last couple of weeks , and the cast fine , but for some reason the have a "noise" to them when stripping line in . 5wt , and a 1wt , both have some noise when stripping in , nothing too bothersom , but I'm used to ceramics .
Have fun , John Got Fish ? Re: Interesting video
