I prefer to use fiberglass drywall tape to build up the blank under the reel seat.
Just be sure to really work your epoxy into the holes of the tape to get the best bond to the seat.

HI Josh--I like the FlexCoat reel seat arbours--their a snap to bore to the blank OD and quickly sand down to a PERFECT fit to the seat ID, and you have an incredibly secure bond that way that's lighter than shimming with tape, etc. We've got most sizes in stock if you need a couple in a hurry.

I'm embarassed to say I'm not exactly sure of my interpretation of your second question ;) but my guess is you're asking if you should put your guides/seat, etc. on the spine or opposite the spine? Read the points given under the FAQ's of this site on that issue first, but you probably need to decide if a little more lifting power and fish-fighting power is more important or if it is more desireable to have a little more casting "oomph" on the forward cast--if it's the former, put the guides on the spine. If it's the latter, put the spine on "top" with the guides opposite.

Hope this helps! :)

Sorry for the mis-spelling yes i was asking about where to put the guild , spine side or not.
It will be for a 7wt so mabe i will put them on the spine side but it will only be for bass, and light saltwater so maybe i should put it on the other side. I need help.

Josh--you really don't need to get too concerned--the difference, while there, is more of a "tweak" than a massive difference. I'd probably put the spine on the bottom with the guides ON it and I'm sure you'll be very happy with the results.
