I'm happy with the wrap finish on my rod sections except for two places. One has uneven finish extending too far away from the beginning of the wrap, the other has a few ugly bubbles at the Forhan locking wrap end just under the guide ring. I've sanded lumpy logo areas before and applied more finish with good success but I'm uneasy about just fixing the wrap edges. Just wondering what the preferred method is - try to scrape the edges clean and add new finish in the fillet areas or should I just strip the guide off and redo? I guess if the repair looks bad I'll wind up doing that anyway. Thanks. Re: Fixing bad wrap edges already finished.

If the finish is fresh it may just pop off with your finger nail and a little heat from a hair dryer.
If not rewrap Re: Fixing bad wrap edges already finished.

i would remove those wraps and do them over. trying to trim something or sand and repair is never goint to look right and you will not be satisfied. you also run the risk of abraiding the blank and then you have new problems. some heat (careful) from a heat gun should soften the epoxy. using a NEW razor blade cut along the top of the guide foot. it should then just peel off. clean it up being careful not to scratch. start fresh.
