Can anyone tell if there is a method for calculating how to set out centres for a closed wrap on a tapered blank to ensure even coverage by the threads rather than having to pack threads tighter at the narrow end of the wrap? Re: Closed wraps on tapered blanks

There is a method described in Clemens "Custom Rod Thread Art" called Taper Offset Layout. Click on the Search button above, type in Closed Wrap Calculation and set the time to All Dates. That will show you a string that covered this once before.
Basically, as you move towards the tip end, the distance between centres needs to increase. Regards Dave Boyle www.visualwrap.com Re: Closed wraps on tapered blanks

:-)
OK, the VisualWRAP software is another way of getting the spacing. It uses the Taper Offset Layout algorithm that Clemens describes. The best use of Vizwrap however, is seeing how the pattern develops, and printing out the pattern true to size. You can then mark off the centres using the printout. -------- Hey Ken - we have been getting unwanted visitors at home lately. Not flies this time but scorpions. Have found six in the swimming pool over the last few months. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
