What are the basics for rod building?

-Tools
-The steps in building a rod
-Epoxies(How to apply),Finish Coat(How to apply) what are they used for and how much do you use
-The Spine(How to find) (why do you need to find it)
-Drying
-Guides

Tom's book on rodbuilding, Dale Clemens book, Tom's magizine, this board.
There are also many site on the left that have articals on the basics. MudHole is one

You will be doing yourself a great favor to arm yourself with some good background information. I would add that Flex Coat's "How We Do It" video is an excellent way to become accustomed to the basic steps in building your own rod.

Click on the Directory button near the top of this page, get the list of builders in your state, see if one of them lives near you, then contact that person. Chances are good he or she would be happy to give you advice or even instruction.
