I need to file the feet flat on my REC Recoil snake guides. I'm looking to get a nice smooth transistion from the blank onto the feet of the guides. Any suggestions for methods, materials or tools?
Thanks, Scott Neuhard Re: filing REC Recoil guide feet?

This has been covered in RodMaker several times. Many ways to do it. One of the easiest is just to file them with a good file. Keep in mind that files only cut in one direction. Take long smooth strokes in the direction of cut, then lift the file and begin again.
If you have a sanding disk or belt in the 80 to 120 grit range, that will make even quicker work of preparing guides. Seconds is all it takes. Straighten/flatten the feet as much as possible and then run the guide over a non-tapered chain saw file to confrom the bottom of the foot to the blank. With the thin feet on snakes, this is not as important as it is with heavier and wider footed guides. Finish up by polishing with a Unified Wheel or some fine emery or crocus cloth. .....
