After learning about sprial wrapping casting rods at Charlotte from Tom, I decided I would build one for myself. My fishing friend, who almost exclusively uses casting rods, decided he wanted to try it out. Could not take it away from him. I had really kept it simple-nothing declorative. Really did not finish it off. He had to have it. Well I managed to talk him into letting me bring it home to finish it off and make slight adjustment. Had it set to go back to the lake next weekend along with a rod my son had started over his spring break that I finished and flocked the grip for him. My wife came down to the shop where I was working on another rod. I pointed out the rod our son had worked on. She picked up the spiral wrapped rod instead. She said, "I hate to tell you but this thing is twisted". I started laughing. That was a mistake-laughing. She ask " what are you laughing about-You have been drinking too much beer down here." I explained to her that I had intentionally rotated the guides 180 degrees. She now said, "You are laughing at me-I did not know you did that on purpose." Good thing she did not spiral wrap the rod around my head but I ended up in the "dog house" the rest of the day and it was all Tom's fault for teaching me to the "sprial wrap" casting rods.
The only consolation I get out of this is that I can blame Tom and his spiral wrap demo at Charlotte. But I guess I can't laugh about. Ed Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
