A friend asked me if I knew of any companies producing a 1 piece fly rod blank. I believe he's looking for a short 4wt or 5wt. Does anyone know of a company that produces a blank that meets these specs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make one from an ultralight trout blank. They work great. Re: one piece fly rod blanks

Ches,
If you search the CCS database (link at top left) for spinning blanks that have ERNs in the 3.0-6.0 range that will be a good start. There won't be lots of choices probably but as Spencer says, UL blanks for trout or panfish have pretty low power and would be a good bet. Another option is Steffen Brothers Fly Rods (do a google search for their website). He rolls his own blanks and then cuts them to the desired # of pieces and then fits them with spigot ferrules. I'm sure if you asked Mark to leave any of his blanks 1 piece, and paid the extra shipping cost, he'd be happy to deliver what you want. Very high quality, attention to detail, and a all-around good guy to work with. Steve Re: one piece fly rod blanks

Unless he wants something really short, 6' or less, I would wonder why he wants a one piece rod? They're hard to transport and you don't gain any advantage in terms of action. Re: one piece fly rod blanks

Pac bay used to offer a 1 piece, 5.5 or 6ft 3 wt blank. I'm not sure if it is around any more. Anyway, I was able to get one for a song. I built it & fished it a time or two, but transport and performance were something to be desired with this rod. It collects dust now.
2 cents, Tim Re: one piece fly rod blanks
