Hi everyone, I am considering building a switch rod from a 10' 6wt Rainshadow RX7 blank. I would like to extend the rod length by glueing a six inch length of salvaged graphite rod onto the butt. Is there a downside to doing this? Re: Rainshadow Switch Rod?

i built this exact same rod into a 10' 8" switch. i don't think there is anything wrong with your approach but i will share mine. i used a pack bay A8 reel seat. i used the 5" extention butt and removed the cork. to the 5" shaft i epoxied a piece of aluminum tubing that i got from "hobby people". over this i built an 8" extension butt. i used a 10" pre-made spinning handle that i cut down slightly. i have an aluminum, rubber tipped butt cap on that. now i can unscrew the extension handle and put in a standard 2" fighting butt, use it without a fighting butt (pack bay makes a nice screw in cap) or use it two handed with the 8" butt. it is a nice rod, by the way.
i caught a couple of hundred bonito on it last summer. Re: Rainshadow Switch Rod?

Thanks Larry, I guess my only concerns are with warranty issues. Re: Rainshadow Switch Rod?

if you are concerned about voiding the warranty shoot batson an email and ask. my method probably would not void it. yours may not either but i would check. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
