I am new to weaving and I am in the process of teaching myself. I started with letters and find that "block" letters are not that difficlut. My question is how do you make the rounders letters in lower case such a a,d,o,. I have been doing them on graph paper first and then weaving, but I seem to be stuck on the circle ones in lower case, any help is greatly appreciated Re: weaving letters

Hi Frank,
I don't know how many threads your weaving with or the size of the thread, letters, dia. of blank, but you may need more thread to weave with to get the detail you want Dave von Doehren PRRODS......If man built it , man can fix it.and if man built it man can break it ! Re: weaving letters

Frank,
I got decent results using PCStitch. There are tons of fonts available and you can adjust the size to meet your needs. Once I had the general pattern, I made some minor adjustments that improved the appearance of the weave. PCStitch is available online and you can try it before you buy it. I've dumped a huge amount of time into making a striped bass pattern. Weaving is tedious but somehow rather fun! Good luck with your weaves, Peter Re: weaving letters

I will echo Dave's response. More threads means more detail in the letters. This can become an issue if you are dealing with smaller diameter rods, ultralites/fly rods, but practice makes perfect & even these rods will be "do-able" if you fiddle around with it long enough.
2 cents, Tim Re: weaving letters

I get fonts off my computer that I like and transfer them to graph paper, I've had real good luck keeping the letter to a maximum of 30 threads wide which will fit on most rods. By using all A thread for your weave the size will be kept to a minimum. I just started weaving with FishHawk metallic which is smaller than gudebrod A which looks real nice, will post a weave using it today of the "TruLine" logo.
