Anyone have any idea where to get slide-band reelseats, or even just the bands, that are similar to the old ones made by PacBay? They were black and just had two rings, a trim ring, and a butt cap. I am afraid that since these are discontinued, they'll be even harder to find than they are now. I have been turning my own cork inserts for these and think they work beautifully on little creek rods.
In a replacement, I am looking for something that is relatively low-cost. While Bellinger et al. make great quality stuff, I don't want to be spending $40 on a pair of bands. That's what marriage is for, lol. I am also interested in a low-cost slide-band seats with wood inserts. The restriction here is that they would have to be ultra-light; weighing less than 0.5oz for the wood insert and bands. Any ideas out there from builders/suppliers? Re: Slide Band Reelseats

Hi Scott! We can supply you with a couple of hardware "kit" options from REC and/or Struble. I'll send you an email with more info! Are you still looking to turn your own cork/wood, or are now looking for a complete seat?
Talk soon! :) Re: Slide Band Reelseats

Sounds good John!
After all, it'd be easiest if I could get them from you with that convenient new US warehouse just down the road :). Re: Slide Band Reelseats

Hey Scott,
[www.landmarkflyrodtubes.com] I got two of the black anodized Springwater seats with a rosewood spacer. ($5 for the hardware, $5 for the insert). I used one on the forecast 6'6" 2 weight I built and it's perfect. It goes great with the black guides and thread wraps. Landmark is less than an hour from me so I just drove up there, and Ron, the guy who runs the place is a really nice guy. Lots of help and we spent a long time chatting about fishing. If you're interested in something a little nicer, I will be making some titanium slide band hardware soon. Send me an email if your interested. Mark Re: Slide Band Reelseats

Scott,
I just weighed the extra landmark seat I have. The hardware alone (cap, ring, and cork check) weighs 55.2 grains (0.126 oz) The insert alone weighs 225.3 grains (0.515 oz) If you went with the chestnut perhaps it would weigh less. Mark Re: Slide Band Reelseats

i second the praise for ron cilli at landmark. nice guy on the phone, nice products, can't beat the springwater's price. the aluminum hardware seems to grip my reel seat a slight bit better than the n/s bellinger i have. but since these are cap and ring, not double ring, you could check out cortland's web site. i think i saw double ring hardware available.

Here are some of the Pac Bay seats:
[www.versitex.com] Also, Cortland shows them on their website, but I've not been able to buy them there. They do not seem to be in their online factory store for some reason or at least I can't find them. Perhaps calling is the optiokn. Re: Slide Band Reelseats

calling may be the solution. i ordered a few seats from them a couple of months ago and used the phone. the guy answering said he didn't know much about the fly components so i had to refer to item numbers from the web site. but he was very accomodating and friendly.
