If there was some leeway in guide spacings while static testing a 4 piece blank, would it be preferable to tweak the spacings so a guide falls on the first ferrule from the tip or on the second (which would be the middle of the blank)? I know someone will respond with just put them where the test indicates but wouldn't it be advantageous to minimize the number of wraps on the tip section and place ferrule strengthening wraps on the 2nd and 3rd ferrule further from the tip (a guide on the 3rd ferrule would be too close to the butt anyway)? Thanks. Re: Guide on ferrule preference when static testing 4 pc blank

Tim,
I have came up with many spacings that will drop a guide on or near two out of three ferrules. Dan Re: Guide on ferrule preference when static testing 4 pc blank

On 4 piece rods, I generally put a guide on every ferrule, including the butt section. I put those guides on first, then static distribute the rest. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
