Createx Auto Air Paints- An Epiphany!

I was ready to go....Really......The blank was masked and prepped, the paint was properly agitated (genuinely angry really) and then it hit me. I was about to use $6.25/ounce auto body paint on a rod blank that I recovered from a junk yard and planned to give away.....I MUST BE NUTS....Putter's offer of the tree stand psychoanalysis is looking better and better. Putting the expensive Flair Paint aside for the steelhead rod I am building, and waiting until I can get a couple of surf rod blanks. I will experiment with the Pearls and Metallics however.

I also went an got myself a good artist set of color pencils for my mock ups and that really helps.

Building a 8' spinning rod for my best friend's eldest son. Brilliant green blank with alternating guide wraps green w/flour orange trim and flour orange w/green trom bands. I may experiment with staining or painting the cork grips the same colors, but again this is a giveaway rod. This is my secret to getting kids interested in fishing and keeping them interested. Cool looking gear.

BTW: Has anyone build a rod on the Gator Glass 11'6" Surf Rod blank....Looks interesting.

Derek
