Could anyone recomend some fly rod blanks that incorperate spigot ferrules. I am wanting to build a 4 or 5 piece 7 wt rod with a moderate action. Re: Spigot ferrules

Very few use them anymore, although I think Scott still has them on some older models and Lamiglas may use them on some of their fiberglass models.

Mark Steffen of Flagstaff, AZ builds his blanks with spigot ferrules. He makes blanks out of S-glass fiberglass and 42-million modulus graphite (2 separte lines of blanks). Because he makes his own blanks, one at a time to order, I'm sure he would be willing to work with you to make you what you are looking for, even if it means making something not exactly like his regular offerrings. He made me a custom blank not in his normal line up last year and was a great guy to work with. His blanks are not inexpensive but I've bought several blanks from him and always felt like I got a great blank and great service.
[www.steffenbrothersflyrods.com] Other spigot blanks: Winston WT (sold by Golden Witch), Diamondback Classic Trout (discontinued but now reintroduced although I can't find anyone who sells the blanks), Lamiglas fiberglass fly (custom tackle supply), Fisher GT40 (Dave Henney, former sponsor, was selling some not long ago - nice blanks) Hope this helps. Unless Winston has changed, the LT also uses them, at least mine does. Re: Spigot ferrules

Pat: Tom K. mentioned this - you can find them on factory Scott rods in their S3, S3S and G series. Blanks are pricey ($300+) and available for the G series only, and only up to 6 wt. I have couple of S3's and one G and I find them to be very smooth in their action, better than other ferrule desings in the Scott line.
I'm going to check out the Steffen Bro's. as well, which is a perfect case in point as to why this board is the best place on the web to find information. Best of luck. Aaron Harp Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
